2010 presented to be a year of many emotions, we have loved and we have lost. In one year we lost Style Skaters from all walks of Life. It would come to be on of the most trying years for the Style Skate Community ever. No one seemed to be exempted.
As we moved into planning for the Adrenalin Awards & Style Skaters Weekend there seemed to be an overwhelming call of reflection and pull from our skaters that have passed on. We tend to say, gone but not forgotten, well that statement would never be so true...
From Skate Legends Mr. Charles Haywood, (MI) & Mr. Norman Carr (OH), to Style Sk8 Greats Tex, Ms. Linda Corley and Mr. Larry Clark, to
Willie Garrett, Mother & Son - Tracy and Lil Reggie Coleman all from (PA) to (VA) "HitMan" Ed Harris and The "Trump" Shawn Walker (GA), to Crowd Cutta & Striders Jarel "Mello" Jones, Darryl Farr, and James "DJ Jim Dandy" Foster (OH), to our Sister from New Orleans, Ms. Kathy Hinyard to our Canadian Brother Morgan Henry and to our very own LaKiesha "RedBone" Tillman (NC) - We shall never forget....
It is on their wheels in which the story for 9th Annual Adrenalin Awards has to be told.
The life they shared with us and the lessons learned have left us all wondering; what's really going on?
We must earnestly the time to Live, Love and Let the people around us know we care. And this is one purpose of the Adrenalin Awards & Style Skaters Weekend...a moment, a weekend and a time to let the Style Skate Community know; your peers Live and Love what you do as Style Skaters.
Welcome to the 9th Annual Adrenalin Awards & Style Skaters Weekend:
For most, this would be their very first experience with Adrenalin and for others, this is yet another opportunity to walk the Red & Black Carpets with each year adding to the value and Love of Roller Skating. Expectations where high and anxiety filled the air as we announced your Favorites for the 2010 Adrenalin Year.....
But before we get there, lets recap the full weekend.
The Red & Black Carpets have been rolled out...on what would be a beautiful weekend in the DMV. Style Skaters from DC, MD, VA, TX, OH, NY, NJ, TN, KS, IL, MI, MO, NC, and as far from CA came to experience the 9th Annual Adrenalin Awards & Style Skaters Weekend.
Friday: Rolling on the Anacostia- Unfortunately was met with construction and administrative mishaps which lead to a less favorable time in the park, however we are so grateful to the National Park Services for being accommodating and trying make the time for guest to Adrenalin welcomed.
The Anacostia Park in the DMV Diamond in the rough and one goal of the Style Skaters Network is to introduce the Park to the Style Skate Community.
Friday Night Roll Call "Tux & Tails": WOW, what a nice evening. Style Skaters came and dressed the part....creative and stylish ready to roll. DJ's Soulnificent (MD) & DJ Joe Bowen (IL) rocked the wood....and by the end of the night the Adrenalin was still pumping with the Skaters asking for more.
The Unity Roll lead by CeeCee of the Low Riders Skate Club (MD) was a wonderful site to see, one line, one roll as we honored our Skaters who have gone on..."Lest we Forget".
Saturday we woke to a beautiful day, sun shining and skaters still checking into host hotel Holiday Inn - Laurel West.
The day offered an opportunity for Skaters to visit the historical sites of the Nations Capital and surroundings area. Excitement filled the air while
"DJ Reggis" Reggie Gibson (MD) played soft mello music as we prepare to eat, break bread and share in the moment of finding out who you have chosen as your Favorite for the 2010 Adrenalin Award winning year.
Red Carpet Correspondent, Shawne White (GA) adorned in a beautiful Black gown was joined by Master of Ceremony,
Jay "soul" Walker (MD) as they greeted guest during the Red Carpet Cocktail Reception.
Style Skaters mixed and mingled as before the doors opened
for the 9th Annual Adrenalin Awards.
Style Skaters and Adrenalin "Royal Court" Inductees:

Rose Bean, Loretta "Sweet N Low", & Joi "Joi of Sk8-A-Thon" Stafford
joined us which added to the wonder and magic of the evening.
The room was full of excitement and anticipation as Master of Ceremony
Jay "Soul" Walker opened the Adrenalin Awards ceremony. Reminding
us to Love, Live and Let each other know how much we care for one another.
After warm embrace went throughout the room, we stop to reflect on the Skaters who have passed on. With a video submitted by
Wes Jiggs (OH) we were able to see our dearly beloved skaters who have passed on.
Still full from of Love and warm embrace, we moved further into the ceremony.
Tasha Klusmann, President and CEO of Our Family Skate Association presented information on the National African American Roller Skating Archives. Later in the ceremony Adrenalin Sponsor, JVisions Inc. present two Instructional hardback manuals to the archives.
Tasha, reminder us the archives are available to all skaters and requested all to submit their story, artifacts and memorabilia.
Over the years, Adrenalin has taken survey from you the Style Skate Community and we have adopted a suggestion to retired winners who have one more than three consecutive years. We heard you and they are now "Etched in the Wood"...

The evening was without a doubt full of fun, excitement and a few surprises; tears, acceptance speeches and words of appreciation from all in attendance. The Adrenalin strives to make each experience memorable, glamorous and full of "Pure Adrenalin".
Style Skaters, some adorned in Neck ties (theme for the night-honoring the DJ of the evening) 2009 Adrenalin Award winning DJ Fly-Ty (NJ) The delivered the beats for "The Pure Adrenalin"....4 hours of non-stop music presented by. The floor was hott... as DJ Fly-Ty pumped them with nothing but beats...starting with 72-bpm moving to 120bpm...the music did not stop.
Can you feel it? If you missed the 9th Annual Adrenalin Awards & Style Skaters Weekend, you missed a treat. Certainly, you do not want to miss the 10th Annual Adrenalin Awards, and we celebrate a Milestone....We look forward to seeing you all on the Red & Black Carpets.
